HOT FUSS!
Up close and personal with The Killers

As City Stages rolled through Birmingham, Alabama this past weekend, acts
like Def Leopard, The Black Crowes, and Gov’t Mule were gearing up for the
weekend,
and the most anticipated band as of late, jumped on the Miller Lite
stage at 11:05 PM on Friday night, Indi-rockers, The Killers!
As a radio DJ, The Killers have been the most exciting and impressive band I’ve
heard in years, so of course, I was pretty pumped for the show. Luckily my
roommate, Sumner, could be coned into going, so we made the trip.
Two hours later, we find a parking place, and enter City Stages. We managed to
clear the crowd and make it to about 12 people back, with a great view of the
show.
The Killers played for an hour... it was awesome, the band was very musically
tight and you could of closed your eyes and thought you were listening to the
CD.
At the conclusion of the show, Sumner and I decided to make the trip back to
Auburn, with some great memories of a great show.
We were heading back to the car, which happened to be parked outside of the
fence behind the Miller Lite stage.
We saw a couple of tour buses and decided
to hang around, to maybe catch a glimpse of some rock stars.
Next thing you know, Brandon Flowers, lead singer of The Killers, jumped off the
tour bus to talk with some of the fans and roadies outside of the bus.
Right then, I was already floored, we even got a couple shots with Sumner’s
camera phone. After a couple minutes, Flowers took a look over and gave us the
head nod, just to say hey. Which would have been good enough for me, but before
we could even acknowledge what had just happened, he walks away from the group
to come over and say hi.
I looked at Sumner and said "Holy F***’N S***!" It’s not that he came over and
said hey, he stay and talked, asked us where we were from, and wanted to know
what we thought of the show.
Of course me being the retard I am, I couldn’t play it smooth. Oh no, Matt
Stone, Mr. Professional DJ was a giddy little school girl.
The first thing out
of my mouth was, “Hey, what’s your name?” I’m a moron, I know everything about
the band and every song on their CD, and I ask him what his name is?
Oh, it doesn’t stop there; I go on to tell him that the show was “Killer, no pun
intended!” Where the hell did that come from, but it makes for a good story.
All-in-all, me and Sumner walked away with an awesome story, and for God’s sake,
I met the lead singer of The Killers, you gotta love it!
