Killers Stay true to form Salt Lake Tribune Much has been made of singer Brandon Flowers fixation with Bruce Springsteen and Tom Petty, with fans of the killers synth heavy dance rock fretting that the follow up to "Hot fuss" would sound nothing like the multi platinum Killers debut. All those fans can relax. "Sam's Town"is no "hot Fuss 2"but it's not going to be mistaken for a roots rock album, either. The sound is more epic and more rock than the last album, and Flowers' lyrics focus more on the seedy underbelly of life in his hometown of Las Vegas than on the glam life glimpsed on "Hot Fuss".songs like "when you were young" "Read my mind" and "Bones" could easily make their way onto the radio, thanks to ample pop hook, and when the band does push the boundaries a bit,on "uncle Jonny"or the opening "sams town,"it works better than one might think.
